Autoimmune hemolytic anemia in COVID-19 patients, the « transmissible » direct Coombs test

چکیده
Background: Like other viruses, the SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) appears to be responsible for several autoimmune complications. The occurrence of hemolytic anemia has been described in case reports. This AIHA was also noticeable by important number blood transfusions required COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) patients. By investigating RBC coating autoantibodies, this article attempts clarify aspect context infection. Results: A large population patients selected at Saint-Luc University Hospital showed an average 44% DAT positivity. In population, intensive care were more prone positivity than general ward (statistically significant result). positive appeared « transmissible » RBCs via DAT-positive patient’s plasma. Conclusion: strongest hypothesis explaining observation is targeting cryptic antigens autoantibodies

Direct antiglobulin ("Coombs") test-negative autoimmune hemolytic anemia: a review.
We have reviewed the literature to identify and characterize reports of warm-antibody type, autoimmune hemolytic anemia in which the standard direct antiglobulin reaction was negative but a confirmatory test indicated that the red cells were opsonized with antibody. Three principal reasons account for the absence of a positive direct antiglobulin test in these cases: a) IgG sensitization below ...

BACKGROUND Anemia is a common, important extraintestinal complication of Crohn's disease. The main types of anemia in patients with Crohn's disease are iron deficiency anemia and anemia of chronic disease. Although patients with Crohn's disease may experience various type of anemia, autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) in patients with Crohn's disease, especially Coombs-negative AIHA, is very rar...
